SIA Licence Training – Door Supervisor
Could you handle a difficult person in a safe and legal manner? Would you know how to guarantee your safety and that of those around you? The SIA Licence Door Supervisor course addresses these issues and covers everything you need to obtain your security licence.
Who’s it aimed at?
This four-day course is suitable for all employees, who are new to the security industry, specifically door supervisors, security operatives, courtroom and security staff. Upon completion, delegates will receive the qualifications required to apply for their SIA door supervisor licence.
Please note – the training does not have to take place over four consecutive days.

The SIA License Door Supervisor course is the complete programme for anyone who requires a SIA license. It covers working in the security industry, as a door supervisor, conflict management and physical restraint practice.
Pre Registration Requirements
Candidates must have the:
Physical capability to be able to undertake physical skills training
Personal ability to undertake classroom training and sit written exam papers
Standing Holding And Escorting Techniques, Including Non-Restrictive And Restrictive Skills

Course Objectives

UNIT 1: Working in the Private Security Industry
Total guided learning hours: 10
By the end of the unit, delegates will:
Know the purpose and main features of the private security industry
Understand the legislation that is relevant to people working in the private security industry
Understand relevant aspects of health and safety in the workplace
Know how to apply the principles of fire safety
Know how to deal with non-fire-related workplace emergencies
Understand the principles of effective communication and customer care in the private security industry
UNIT 2: Working as a Door Supervisor
Total guided learning hours: 10
By the end of the unit, delegates will understand:
The appropriate behaviour for individual door supervisors, as defined by the Security Industry Authority’s (SIA) standards of behaviour
The elements of civil and criminal law relevant to door supervisors
Search procedures and the reasons for having them
The powers of arrest and related procedures
Relevant drug legislation and its relevance to the role of the door supervisor
Incident recording and crime scene preservation
Licensing law and social responsibility
Procedures for emergency situations, as well as being able to follow them
UNIT 3: Conflict Management for the Private Security Industry
Total guided learning hours: 8
By the end of the unit, delegates will understand:
The principles of conflict management appropriate to their role
How to recognise, assess and reduce risk in conflict situations
How to communicate effectively in emotive situations and de-escalate conflict
How to develop and use problem-solving strategies for resolving
Conflict good practice to follow after conflict situations
UNIT 4: Physical Intervention Skills for the Private Security Industry
Total guided learning hours: 10
By the end of the unit, delegates will understand:
Physical interventions and the legal and professional implications of their use
How to reduce the risk of harm when physical intervention skills are used
Good practice to follow after physical interventions
They will also be able to use non-pain related:
Physical skills to protect themselves and others from assault
